CLAPA was set up in 1979 as a partnership between parents and health professionals for those affected by cleft lip and palate.
It provides support for new parents and people with the condition, and their families, from infancy through to adulthood. It is the only UK wide voluntary organisation specifically helping those with, and affected by, cleft lip and palate. It is unique.
CLAPA has a head office based in London, with seven paid employees, and a network of 26 branches, all run by volunteers. There are many other regional contacts in the UK, all committed to supporting families affected by cleft lip and/or palate.
CLAPA-GOS is one of these regional groups or branches. The groups are run by people who have benefited from the organisation, often working in partnership with local health professionals.
